Nigerian singer John Njenga-Njeng, also known as Skales, has denied rumors circulating online that he divorced his wife, Precious Hassanity, due to her mocking his career.
The speculation was originally spread by @Verity_HQ, claiming that Skales admitted to divorcing Precious because she joined others in criticizing his career on social media.
The user wrote:
“I d!vorced my wife because of a comment she made on my post and I don’t rêgret it,” singer Skales reportedly said. “When my wife made the comment on my post, I got ãngry. People cannot be m0cking your husband’s music career, the music that is paying your bills and you join them to m0ck him.
“She should’ve defended me or, better still, stayed quiet. I wasn’t totally wr0ng for dîvorcing her because a woman who doesn’t support your hustle isn’t a good wife.”
Reacting, Skales said he never made such a statement and described the report as “false.”
He warned the blogger to stop spreading lies, labeling the report “evil and unfair.”
The singer wrote: “This is really evil of you that you would cook up such a story. This is not fair. I have never made such a statement and this is false. Please stop spreading lies.”
Skales, who tied the knot with Precious Hassanity, a chef, in September 2021, had previously shared a preview of a song in November 2022 that appeared to be directed at his wife, using disrespectful language towards her.
Following his mother’s demise, Skales hinted at a crisis in his marriage when he wrote on social media:
“In all you do, make sure you don’t marry a heartless person. Pray for my mental health.”
