Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has called on his political rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to accept the recent Court of Appeal ruling as a true democrat and move forward in the interest of the state.
The Appeal Court on Thursday upheld Okpebholo’s victory in the last governorship election, affirming the earlier decision of the election tribunal and dismissing Ighodalo’s challenge to the results.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Ituah, Governor Okpebholo described the judgment as a validation of the will of Edo people and commended the judiciary for standing firm as a pillar of justice.
“This verdict is not just a win for the All Progressives Congress (APC), but also a victory for democracy, the rule of law, and the people of Edo State,” he said.
A Call for Peace and Unity
The governor urged Ighodalo and other opposition members to respect the ruling and end the legal tussles, noting that prolonged litigation only serves as a distraction from critical developmental efforts.
“I have always extended a hand of peace, irrespective of political affiliation. What matters now is unity and the growth of Edo State,” he added.
Commitment to Development
Okpebholo reassured residents of his administration’s dedication to delivering good governance through sustained investment in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.
He called on citizens to remain peaceful and law-abiding, promising to continue working diligently to ensure progress and prosperity across the state.
