The Court of Appeal in Abuja has confirmed the validity of the Edo State Governor’s election, Senator Monday Okpebholo, which was conducted by INEC.
The appellate court also affirmed that Governor Okpebholo was duly elected as the winner of the September 24, 2024 gubernatorial election.
Justice Mohammed Danjuma, who delivered the judgment in the appeal filed by the PDP and its governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, stated that the appeal lacked merit and was dismissed in its entirety.
The court found that there was no evidence of a miscarriage of justice in the decision of the Edo State Election Petition Tribunal, which had previously rejected the petition of the appellants.
The unanimous decision of the 3-man panel of Justices at the court of appeal upheld the election of Governor Okpebholo.
