Reigning African Footballer of the Year, Ademola Lookman, paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his residence in Lagos on Thursday.
The 27-year-old forward, who plays for Italian side Atalanta, proudly presented his 2024 CAF Africa Player of the Year trophy, a prestigious award he received in December 2024 in Marrakech, Morocco. Lookman became the latest Nigerian to win the accolade, following in the footsteps of Victor Osimhen, who previously held the title.
Lookman Honored for Stellar Achievements
The visit was also attended by Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, as the delegation met with President Tinubu to celebrate Lookman’s incredible achievements in both domestic and international football.
Lookman earned the CAF award after a remarkable season, where he shone for the Super Eagles of Nigeria and made history with his club, Atalanta. One of the most iconic moments of his year came during the 2024 UEFA Europa League final, where he scored a hat-trick to lead Atalanta to their first-ever European trophy.
Impressive Club Form
During the 2024/2025 Serie A season, Lookman also delivered top-tier performances in Italy, scoring 15 goals and playing a crucial role in Atalanta’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
Now in Lagos for the off-season, the Nigerian football star is enjoying a well-deserved break, following a demanding and highly successful campaign.
