Nigerian football icon Jay-Jay Okocha has encouraged Victor Osimhen to extend his stay with Galatasaray, following the striker’s sensational loan spell in Turkey.
Speaking in an interview with Turkish broadcaster TRT Spor, as reported by Haberler, Okocha praised Osimhen’s form and happiness at the club, urging him to consider staying with the Turkish champions, even if it means making personal sacrifices.
“Turkey is a great place to play and live football,” Okocha said.
“Sometimes, you may need to make sacrifices when making decisions in football. Osimhen had a great season at Galatasaray. Ultimately, he is happy there. Why shouldn’t he stay with the team? I love Turkey. He loves it too.”
Osimhen’s Future Still Unclear
When asked if he had insider knowledge on Osimhen’s next move, Okocha responded honestly:
“I don’t know. Wherever he decides to go, I wish him the best.”
The former Fenerbahçe star, who enjoyed a successful two-year stint in Turkey from 1996 to 1998, reminisced fondly about his time there. Okocha spoke highly of Turkish fans and local cuisine, and concluded his interview with a shout-out to his former club:
“The greatest is Fener.”
Record-Breaking Season
Victor Osimhen wrapped up an incredible campaign by netting his 37th goal of the season in Galatasaray’s 2–0 win over İstanbul Başakşehir, securing both the Turkish Super Lig and the Turkish Cup.
The Napoli loanee also scooped Player of the Season and Süper Lig Top Scorer honors, further cementing his status as one of Europe’s most lethal forwards.
As speculation swirls about his future, with interest from Premier League and Saudi Pro League clubs, Okocha’s words add a personal touch to the ongoing transfer drama.
