Former Big Brother Naija winner, Mercy Eke, has revealed that her groundbreaking victory in the show’s fourth season was not just a personal achievement but a victory for every young woman striving to break barriers.
In a recent interview with BellaNaija, the reality star and entrepreneur reflected on her historic win, saying it served as a major confidence boost for women across Nigeria and beyond who had been told their dreams were impossible.
According to Mercy, she entered the BBNaija Pepper Dem season fully prepared for success and determined to change the narrative.
“I came into the show prepared. I was ready. And when I won the show, I did it for all the young women who have been told that they can’t. I did it for all of us,” she said.
Mercy Eke made history in 2019 as the first-ever female winner of Big Brother Naija, breaking a long-standing streak dominated by male winners. Her victory marked a turning point for female contestants and set the stage for future winners.
Since her milestone win, two other women have gone on to claim the BBNaija crown — Phyna in 2022 and Ilebaye in 2023 — continuing the legacy of strong female representation in the popular reality series.
