British rapper Skepta is currently facing three legal charges — drug driving, speeding, and failing to provide information to police — following a series of alleged traffic offenses in the UK.
According to Daily Mail, the 43-year-old artist was accused of driving his Mercedes-Benz Maybach with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) — a substance found in cannabis — in his system. The incident allegedly occurred on May 14, 2024, in High Wycombe, North London.
Skepta, whose real name is Joseph Junior Adenuga, is also facing a speeding charge for allegedly driving seven miles per hour over the 30 MPH limit on Amersham Road, Buckinghamshire, on November 20, 2023, while behind the wheel of his Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
The third charge, failing to supply information to an officer, is linked to that same speeding incident — with police claiming he did not cooperate with Thames Valley Police regarding the identity of the Rolls-Royce driver.
Skepta appeared before the High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Friday, October 3, to face all three charges. However, the hearing was briefly adjourned due to a “lack of court time.”
Reports differ on when the case will proceed — with the BBC suggesting the trial will begin in early 2026, while other outlets claim it could take place later this year.
The legal troubles follow a busy year for the “That’s Not Me” rapper, who made headlines earlier this summer after engaging in a friendly rap battle with Joyner Lucas. The exchange began when Skepta boldly claimed that UK rappers are better than their U.S. counterparts, sparking a back-and-forth that left fans divided over who came out on top.
