Angelina Jolie reflects on her children's personalities and future plans amid ongoing Brad Pitt divorce

Hollywood star Angelina Jolie has described her divorce from Brad Pitt as an “emotionally difficult” experience for herself and their six children, as new details emerge in their ongoing legal dispute over their French estate, Château Miraval.

In fresh court filings obtained by Page Six, Jolie claimed that the separation was a deeply painful period and revealed she allowed Pitt to retain control of their family properties in Los Angeles and Miraval “without compensation” in hopes of easing tensions.

“The events leading to my need to separate from my ex-husband were emotionally difficult for me and our children,” Jolie wrote in her declaration to the Los Angeles Superior Court.

The actress, 49, said she and her children — Maddox (24), Pax (21), Zahara (20), Shiloh (19), and twins Knox and Vivienne (17) — have not returned to Miraval since the split, describing it as a painful reminder of the past.

Jolie explained that her finances were tied up in the property and that she sold her stake to the Stoli Group to support her family, insisting she was within her rights to do so despite Pitt’s lawsuit claiming otherwise.

She also revealed she had gone nearly two years without work after the separation to focus on her children’s wellbeing, at times struggling financially and even accepting a loan from Pitt to buy a new home.

“Miraval was one of the first major investments we made together, and it was a focal point of our family life,” Angelina Jolie wrote.

“To have such a sudden break from my home and memories has been hard.”

Now, Jolie is asking the court to order Pitt to pay $33,000 to cover the legal fees she incurred opposing his latest motion. Her legal team argued that Pitt refused to withdraw the motion despite repeated warnings.

Meanwhile, sources close to Pitt have dismissed Angelina Jolie’s claims, insisting the dispute is purely commercial and unrelated to their divorce.

Angelina Jolie and Pitt — who married in 2014 and separated in 2016 — finalized their divorce in 2024 but their legal battle over Château Miraval and its financial aftermath continues to unfold.
