‘Family Matters’ Star Darius McCrary Jailed in San Diego Over Out-of-State Felony Warrant

Actor Darius McCrary, best known for his role as Eddie Winslow on the hit sitcom Family Matters, has been arrested and detained in San Diego, California, with no bail set, according to jail records.

The 49-year-old was booked at 7:17 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, by the United States Border Patrol on an out-of-state felony warrant. His arrest has been classified as a “fugitive arrest,” and court records show he is the defendant in an open criminal case.

Darius McCrary’s first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, October 15.

A representative for the actor told TMZ that the warrant originated from Michigan, stemming from a missed court appearance related to unpaid child support.

McCrary has faced multiple legal and personal challenges in recent years, including a contentious divorce from Tammy Brawner, which was finalized in February 2019. Under the settlement, McCrary was ordered to pay $1,366 per month in child support, while Brawner received full legal and physical custody of their daughter, Zoey.

Additionally, Darius McCrary was mandated to complete alcohol/drug abuse and batterers’ intervention classes, and granted monitored visitation rights with his daughter.

As of now, McCrary remains in custody as he awaits his court hearing later this month.
