Jude Bellingham appeared to take a dig at Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal following Real Madrid’s fiery El Clasico victory on Sunday.
After losing all four encounters against Barcelona last season, Los Blancos — now under Xabi Alonso — reclaimed bragging rights in a tense 2-1 win at the Santiago Bernabéu. The match ended in dramatic fashion, with players and officials from both sides clashing near the touchline after Pedri was shown a second yellow card late in the game.
Bellingham, who had been substituted in the 90th minute, was drawn into the commotion on the sidelines before being ushered away. Once the final whistle blew, tensions flared again as Yamal got into a heated exchange with Dani Carvajal. The Madrid defender appeared to tell his Spain teammate that he “talks too much.”
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and Vinícius Júnior were also seen confronting Yamal, while Raphinha — who wasn’t part of the matchday squad — rushed in to defend his Barcelona colleague.
In the days leading up to the highly anticipated clash, Yamal had already stoked controversy with comments that angered Madrid players, saying: “Yes, they steal, they complain all the time…”
Those words came back to haunt him after Madrid’s win. Just hours after the match, Bellingham took to Instagram to share photos from the game, adding a caption that fans immediately recognized as a pointed response to Yamal’s pre-match remarks. The England midfielder wrote: “Talk is cheap. HALA MADRID SIEMPRE!!!”
Bellingham had every reason to celebrate. He delivered a commanding performance, assisting Kylian Mbappé’s opening goal in the 22nd minute before scoring a simple tap-in to secure all three points for Alonso’s side — and Madrid’s revenge in one of football’s most heated rivalries.
