Senator Natasha Akpoti, representing Kogi Central, has alleged that her international passport is being withheld, preventing her from traveling abroad.
The lawmaker made the claim during a live Facebook broadcast on Tuesday morning, stating that the situation has occurred once again without any legal justification.
According to Natasha, “having completed the celebration of my second year, I decided to take a week off and my passport is being withheld again. The same thing happened.”
She further emphasized that she has not committed any offense that warrants such action. “I have committed no offense and there is no order from the court to seize my passport and deny me traveling,” she stated.
Senator Natasha also claimed that the last time a similar incident occurred, a security officer attributed the action to the Senate leadership. “The last time it happened, the officer in charge told us that the Senate President Godswill Akpabio instructed them to withhold my passport and prevent me from traveling,” she alleged.
As of now, neither the Senate President nor any relevant authorities have issued an official response to her claims.
