Kinsmen of popular Nollywood actress Regina Daniels have reportedly given her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, a 48-hour ultimatum to accept the return of the bride price paid on her and to stop allegedly harassing her family members.

In an open letter signed by Favour Awele Obi on behalf of the Ogwashi-Uku community in Delta State, the kinsmen accused Nwoko of disrespecting their cultural traditions and using his influence to intimidate Regina’s family.

“With due respect to your office and person, we must express deep disappointment over your recent actions concerning our sister and her family. As a people, we value peace, fairness, and respect for our cultural traditions,” the letter read in part.

According to the Ogwashi-Uku custom, marriage is not by force, and when a woman decides to leave, her family must return the bride price to officially dissolve the union. The community claimed that Regina’s family had made several attempts to return the bride price, but Ned Nwoko allegedly refused to accept it.

The letter further stated that if the senator continues to reject the return, the bride price would be deposited at the Ikeleke Quarter in Ogwashi-Uku, a traditional act symbolizing the end of the marriage.

The kinsmen also condemned the reported arrest and intimidation of Regina’s relatives, describing such actions as “oppressive and an affront to our people and long-standing traditions.”

The open letter — shared on Instagram by Regina’s elder brother, Sweezzy, and actor Stanley Ontop — urged the lawmaker to restore peace by respecting custom and ensuring the release of all detained family members.

This development comes after Regina Daniels publicly accused Ned Nwoko earlier in the week of ordering the arrest of her brother and sister after she refused to return to him.

Regina and Nwoko, who married in 2019, share two sons together.

As of the time of this report, Senator Ned Nwoko has not issued an official response to the allegations or the community’s ultimatum.
