Tottenham Pledges Support for Destiny Udogie After Gun Threat Incident

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed they are providing full support to Italy international Destiny Udogie after reports emerged that the defender was threatened with a gun by a football agent in London.

According to BBC Sport, an unnamed Premier League player was targeted in the capital on September 6, with another man allegedly blackmailed and threatened during the same incident. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 31-year-old man was arrested on September 8 on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail, and driving without a licence. The suspect has since been released on bail while investigations continue.

In an official statement on Tuesday, Tottenham Hotspur said:

“We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”

The 22-year-old defender, who joined Spurs from Udinese in 2022 for £15 million, has become a key part of the North London side’s setup. After signing, he was loaned back to the Serie A club for one season before returning to Tottenham for the 2023–24 campaign.

Since his return, Udogie has made 76 appearances for the club and has been impressive under Spurs’ current setup. This season, he has already featured 10 times, including in Tuesday night’s 4-0 Champions League victory over Copenhagen.

The club and fans have since rallied around the young player, expressing relief that he and his family are safe while awaiting further updates from the ongoing police investigation.
