Nigerian singer Burna Boy has made history after recording the biggest streaming year ever by an African artist on Spotify, amassing nearly two billion streams in 2025.
The Ye crooner pulled in a total of 1.986 billion streams on the platform during the year, finishing ahead of fellow African stars Wizkid, Tyla, Rema and Davido to emerge as the most streamed African artist of 2025.
Spotify streaming data for the year showed that Wizkid ranked second with 1.81 billion streams. South African singer Tyla followed closely in third place with 1.67 billion streams.
Rema occupied the fourth position with 1.63 billion streams, while Davido rounded off the top five with 1.58 billion streams.
The rest of the top 10 list was completed by Asake with 1.52 billion streams, Ayra Starr with 1.47 billion streams, CKay with 1.38 billion streams, Seyi Vibez with 1.32 billion streams, and Mr Eazi with 1.26 billion streams, further highlighting the global dominance of African music on Spotify.
