Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, will on Friday, January 2, 2026, formally register as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a resignation letter dated December 29, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward in Mangu Local Government Area, the governor announced his immediate withdrawal from the party, citing the need for purposeful leadership and clarity of direction.
Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the PDP for the platform it provided him and thanked party leaders and members for their support throughout his political journey.
Explaining his decision to join the APC, the governor described the move as strategic, noting that it would better position Plateau State to align with the policies and programmes of the Federal Government. He said this alignment would help accelerate development and deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, unity, and stability, adding that the defection would strengthen cooperation and foster sustainable growth across Plateau State.
According to the programme of events, the official registration and presentation of Mutfwang’s APC membership card will take place at Victoria Gowon Hall, Government House, Rayfield, by 11:00 a.m. He is also scheduled to visit the APC State Secretariat at Kalwa House, Jos, where he will meet with party leaders and supporters.
