Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has broken her silence after her release from detention, offering a heartfelt public apology to fellow actress Mercy Johnson and her family.
In an emotional video shared online, Angela admitted to past mistakes and distanced herself from rumours and gossip she said once shaped misunderstandings between them.
“I’m not a perfect being. This video is specifically for Mercy Johnson and her kids, family,” she said.
“When we were growing in the industry, a lot of gossip — people will come and tell me Mercy said this, and go and tell Mercy Angela said that. At this age, this is not what I want for myself. I no longer listen to those cheap gossips.”
Taking full responsibility, Angela offered a direct apology for anything she may have said or written in the past.
“I’m really sorry, Mercy Johnson. Please forgive me. If it’s my words — verbal or written on social media — I’m sorry. You are not a witch. You are not what people are calling you.”
She also expressed concern about the impact of the public dispute on Mercy Johnson’s children, calling attention to the emotional toll on families.
“I don’t like why your kids are being bullied in school. If it were me, I wouldn’t take it. This is me saying I’m deeply sorry. We don’t know where our kids will meet tomorrow.”
Angela went further to reaffirm her bond with Mercy, describing her as still a friend and promising a new approach grounded in direct communication rather than hearsay.
“You are still my friend, and if I hear anything I don’t like, I will call you to inform you.”
She concluded simply but firmly:
“I’m very sorry. Sorry.”
Angela Okorie also apologised broadly to anyone she may have offended, describing the moment as a new beginning centred on peace, growth, and reconciliation. Her apology has since drawn mixed but largely supportive reactions online, with many hoping it marks the start of healing and a renewed friendship between the two Nollywood stars.
