Media personality and on-air host, Toolz, has sparked conversations around relationships and family approval after sharing her honest views on navigating dating situations involving parents.
Taking to Instagram, Toolz raised a question many people grapple with in silence: should a relationship continue if a partner’s parents—especially their mother—do not approve? She also touched on the reverse scenario, where one’s own family is unhappy with a partner.
The OAP was clear about her stance, admitting that she would have walked away from a relationship if her partner’s parents, particularly his mother, disliked her.
“You rarely win that battle if you’re at war with the mum, whether you’re right or wrong,” she said, explaining that the emotional toll is often not worth it.
However, Toolz noted that she would take a different approach if the disapproval came from her own family. In such cases, she said she would try to make the relationship work.
She added that her late father was not quick to warm up to people and often needed time before fully accepting them, suggesting that initial resistance does not always mean permanent rejection.
