Gambian actress Princess Shyngle has triggered massive online reactions after calling out married women and those in relationships who message her asking for financial help.
In a blunt post shared on her Instagram page, the outspoken actress said women who are married or in committed relationships should not be struggling financially, insisting that such hardship should only apply to single women.
According to Princess Shyngle, she is constantly shocked by the number of women in relationships who reach out to her privately for money.
“Majority of the people that beg me for money on social media are either married women or women with a man,” she wrote, questioning the role the men in their lives play in their welfare.
The actress did not mince words as she accused such women of hypocrisy, especially those who mock single women online for not being married.
“You will still go online and say, ‘Go and find a husband, nobody wants to marry you,’ but you are in a single girl’s DM begging for money,” she said.
Princess argued that single women are the ones expected to grind and fend for themselves, stressing that marriage or a committed relationship should come with support and stability.
She added that it makes no sense for someone who publicly flaunts their relationship to privately depend on single women for financial assistance.
Her comments immediately set social media ablaze, with some applauding her honesty and others accusing her of being insensitive and oversimplifying complex realities around marriage, finances, and gender roles.
As expected, the debate has continued to rage online, touching on accountability in relationships, financial responsibility, and whether marriage automatically guarantees financial security — proving once again that Princess Shyngle knows exactly how to get the internet talking.
