Nigerian skit-maker and singer Carter Efe has set social media on fire after a viral clip surfaced showing him bluntly dismissing Wizkid’s music and crediting Davido for his journey.
In the now-trending video, Carter Efe is seen addressing his manager, who was playing a Wizkid song in the background. Visibly irritated, the entertainer interrupted and made his stance crystal clear:
“Remove that song. No be Wizkid carry us reach where we dey, na Davido. You dey mad? You dey play Wizkid?”
The statement immediately split Nigerian social media down the middle.
Davido fans applauded Carter Efe for what they described as “speaking his truth” and openly acknowledging Davido’s influence and support. Many praised him for staying loyal and giving credit to the artist they believe has helped uplift several creatives in the industry.
On the other hand, Wizkid’s fanbase slammed the skit-maker, accusing him of unnecessary disrespect and chasing clout by inserting himself into the long-running Wizkid vs Davido rivalry. Some users argued that Carter Efe could have expressed gratitude to Davido without dragging Wizkid into the conversation.
This is not the first time Carter Efe has publicly shown love to Davido. The entertainer has repeatedly acknowledged the Afrobeats superstar as a major influence on his career and has never hidden his admiration for him.
However, this latest clip has officially thrown Carter Efe into the centre of one of Nigerian pop culture’s most explosive fan wars. Nigerian Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok have since been flooded with reactions, memes, hot takes, and heated arguments, with fans once again picking sides.
As the debate rages on, one thing is certain: Carter Efe’s words have reignited the Wizkid vs Davido conversation, and social media is not calming down anytime soon.
