Nigerian actress Peggy Ovire has shared a frightening experience that left her almost collapsing after following a strict diet while juggling work and fasting.
The actress recounted the incident in a post shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday, explaining that the combination of dieting, fasting, little sleep, and back-to-back filming eventually left her body exhausted.
According to Peggy, she had been on a disciplined diet since November last year and had successfully lost weight, but the pressure of work and fasting in February pushed her body beyond its limits.
“This life no dey do pass yourself,” she wrote.
Describing the moment the health scare happened, the actress said she suddenly began experiencing blurred vision while speaking during a meeting.
“Today during a meeting, I was demonstrating and explaining… for like 20 minutes I was explaining with full confidence,” she wrote.
“Suddenly everywhere just blurrrrr. I said maybe my eyes are adjusting. Next thing… I begin see double. DOUBLE OOOO.”
Realising something was wrong, she said she quickly sat on the floor to avoid collapsing.
“Omo I no argue with my destiny. I quietly and respectfully sat down on the floor. Because what is pride?” she joked, adding that the people present rushed to get her water.
Using the experience as a lesson, Peggy advised people to prioritise their health even when trying to lose weight or observe religious fasting.
“Whether you’re watching weight or fasting, abeg try dey stay one place. Your body no be generator wey you fit overload. Health first before hot body.”
Peggy Ovire began her career as a model and beauty pageant contestant before transitioning into acting. She gained wider recognition after appearing in productions such as Husbands of Lagos and films like Best of Enemies.
