The United States Embassy in Nigeria has issued a security alert to its citizens in Abuja over a planned protest in the Federal Capital Territory.
In a statement shared on its official X handle on Wednesday, the Embassy warned of a high potential for protests in Abuja following the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Iran.
According to the advisory, previous demonstrations by some groups over the conflict have led to violent clashes with Nigerian security forces.
“The Embassy strongly recommends that all U.S. citizens in Abuja remain in their residences on Wednesday, March 4,” the statement said.
The Embassy also announced the cancellation of all visa appointments earlier scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2026, citing security concerns.
“Due to the potential for protests in Abuja, the U.S. Embassy in Abuja has cancelled all visa appointments on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Applicants will be contacted with information on how to reschedule. Please monitor our website and social media channels for further updates,” the notice read.
For emergency assistance, the Embassy advised U.S. citizens to contact its official lines or visit its website for further information.
The alert comes amid heightened tensions and concerns over possible unrest linked to the international conflict.
