The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has yet to learn from the internal political crisis affecting the party.
Wike made the remarks on Monday during his first monthly media parley for 2026 in Abuja, where he also declared his intention to support President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office.
“As it is today, my party seems to have not learned, and I am also going to support the President for a second term in office,” Wike stated.
The former Rivers State governor clarified that his support would be based on candidates who align with the president’s agenda, regardless of party affiliation.
“I didn’t beat around the bush when I said that as a minister, my party never asked me about the candidates they were planning to put forward, and I made it clear that I would only support candidates who backed the president,” he said.
Wike further explained that his position does not amount to working for another political group, but rather supporting individuals who are in favour of the president.
“I never said I would support that particular party, but I did say I would support candidates who are in favor of Mr President, regardless of which party they are from. That’s where I’m going to focus my support,” he added.
His comments come amid ongoing tensions within the PDP and shifting political alignments ahead of future elections.
